I apologize for not blogging in a while, I've been in Iowa and Idaho and all the states in between (yes, we ventured through the floods of North Dakota, too)! I've also been waiting for some good pictures of my second attempt. I made two cakes for my dear friend Linda's retirement party! I was pretty proud of myself, but let me just tell you that lessons were still learned along the way, like...
1. More counter space IS awesome and necessary!
2. There are 8 letters in "congrats", not 6 (found that out the hard way of making the bubbles, then as I was filling them in and got to the second to last one, I noticed I was going to need a few more; therefore, I was going to need to start this lil top part over)!
3. I go through eggs like crazy, and feel quite wasteful when the recipe calls for only egg whites. Any suggestions as to what I could use the yolks for are greatly appreciated (p.s. I don't eat eggs).
4. Making frosting colors is fun! And, I now know why I've been keeping all those yogurt containers!
5. Cake boxes are THE BEST, and they make my cakes look closer to professional.
... there were many more lessons, but you get the gist for now!
Today's task is to make a sheet cake for a friends birthday party! I was told he likes golf, fishing, and The Bulldogs. Since I'm still learning, I think I'm going to stick with a Bulldogs theme. Wish me luck! I'll be sharing soon!
As always, input is always welcomed and appreciated!!
